MAJOR HISTORICAL EVENTS

China Merchants Bank founded its Securities Division in September 1991.
With the approval of the Head Office of the People’s Bank of China, Zhaoyin Securities Company Limited was established in October 1994 with a registered capital of RMB 0.15 billion.
In December 1997, with the approval of the Head Office of the People’s Bank of China, Zhaoyin Securities Company Limited embarked on a program of corporate reformation and capital expansion. The registered capital was increased to RMB 0.8 billion and share equity stood at RMB 1.32 billion.
In October 1998, the China Securities Regulatory Commission approved the program of corporate reformation and capital expansion and also gave the green light for Zhaoyin Securities Company Limited to be renamed China Communication Securities Company Limited.
In January 2000, with the approval of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, China Communication Securities Company Limited increased its registered capital to RMB 2.2 billion, ranking the 5th in the industry in terms of capital size.
In 2001, China Communication Securities Company Limited was converted into a company with a share capital. The registered share capital was RMB 2.4 billion.
On 25 June 2002, with the approval of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, China Communication Securities Company Limited altered its name to China Merchants Securities Company Limited.

2001 PERFORMANCE

In terms of business volume, the Company ranked the 9th among securities dealers in China.
When ranked by the number of listed companies for which securities dealers acted as lead underwriters, the Company was the 8th in the industry.
When ranked by the amount of funds raised through underwriting, China Merchants Securities Company Limited was the 11th among domestic securities dealers.
In an assessment of the overall strength of securities dealers in the country, China Merchants Securities Company Limited ranked the 9th.
Average performance of its securities dealing division was the best among domestic securities dealers.
When appraised by volume of business from other companies and brokerage income, the Company ranked the 3rd in the industry.
Presently, in a comprehensive appraisal of all securities dealers in the country, China Merchants Securities Company Limited ranked the 8th.

BRILLIANT ACHIEVEMENTS

One of the first batch of member institutions of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
One of the first batch of sponsors for listing on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
The first B share domestic lead underwriter in Shenzhen.
The first securities dealer authorised to conduct proprietary trading business in Shenzhen.
One of the first batch of securities dealers authorised by the
China Securities Regulatory Commission to conduct internet securities business. The ‘new-one’ net was the runner-up in the ‘2001 most popular net’ contest.

  In the past 10 years, the Company fully capitalised on every market and policy adjustment opportunity, started reformation, took up challenges and made every effort to achieve excellence. The ‘new-one’ net has enjoyed great popularity and is highly competitive in the market.
